Bower Charity Golf Day

So, off we set, myself, Ed Kelly and Michael White, three intrepid ‘loosely speaking’ golfers from the Adviser population doing our bit for our amazing company charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK. Our golf venue for the day was Blake’s Golf Club, Epping.

It is fair to say, (and the fellas won’t mind me saying this I’m sure) that our golf can only be described as erratic at best and embarrassing at worst (funny embarrassing if you know what I mean), but that we can also navigate our way around a golf course (trust me when I say we can navigate our way around the WHOLE course). Therefore, we did manage on occasions to actually look like we could all play a little.

We had various competitions running between ourselves throughout the round, all with the aim of putting more money into the ‘kitty’, and being sales advisers we were VERY competitive with regards to them.  The results of which were that Ed won nearest the flag on a par 3 on the 8th. Basically made the green in one and nearest the hole at the same time. A great shot. Michael had shot of the day, a perfect second shot approach to the 9th which was par 4 (and he made par to boot).  And, I myself won longest drive on the par 4 16th which was made a little easier it has to be said after Ed and particularly Michael sprayed their tee shots all over the place and after we had stopped killing ourselves laughing at that, I had a virtual tap up onto the fairway that even a baby could have made. Finally, Ed was our overall winner on the day, well done

Furthermore, Damon O’Connell has made us a great gesture. To explain, at our ‘high handicappers’ level of play, making a par (scoring a hole in regulation be it 3, 4 or 5) is the ultimate goal. They are normally few and far between, but we did manage to make five of these overall. Myself and Michael one each and Ed somehow on three occasions…!!. Damon has kindly advised that he would contribute five pounds for each of these, so that would make the total we raised even higher! Big shout out. Thank you kindly.

Here’s to doing it all again in 2020.
